Matt Cassel finally looked like the talented young quarterback that salvaged the Patriots' season in 2008. But a decrepit Larry Johnson is still averaging a paltry 2.4 yards per carry through five weeks. And the defense is still not showing up to work. An upgrade is needed in at least one area before the team earns its first win.
Washington is still struggling to find any continuity on offense to start the season. The team's bread and butter, Clinton Portis, is obviously still hurting. Additionally, starting left tackle Chris Samuels is expected to miss the game this week as he nurses a shoulder injury. Quarterback Jason Campbell is a game manager who will not win a contest by himself. As a result, the defense will need to dictate the action against Kansas City.
