Many members of the Green Bay Packers spent the team's bye week calling Brett Favre in the middle of the night and hanging up.
But the Packers and coach Mike McCarthy also had some serious run-stopping issues to iron out during the time off. Green Bay is presently surrendering over 112 yards per game on the ground in a division laden with quality running backs. The team will face another one this week in Kevin Smith of the Detroit Lions. There is no question the Packers can score at will on Detroit, but the defense needs to patch the holes up front.
Detroit put up an underrated effort against the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers last week. But the offense ultimately could not make-up for a sieve-like defense. Green Bay will bring a more potent offense to the table this week. The Lions may also be without receiver/superhero Calvin Johnson, who hurt his knee against the Steelers.
With this game being played in Green Bay, Detroit does not have a chance. The Lions defense will get shredded like Wisconsin cheddar.
