Earlier: Hawaii fight fans will get a rare treat later this month because on August 29, 2009, IBF light flyweight champion Brian "Hawaiian Punch" Viloria will make the first defense of his newly won title against Mexican Jesus “Azul” Iribe at the popular Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Viloria who has a record of 25-2 with 15 Kos is coming off a from spectacular 11th round knockout win over hard-hitting Ulises Solis to grab the title last April 19 at the Araneta Coliseum. Viloria vowed to be ready to defend his belt. In fact he promised to defend it much longer than the first championship title he won in 2005. He did not promise a knock out but he vowed to slug it out and be ready for 12 rounds.

Iribe on the other hand, has a record of 15-5-5 with 9 knockouts is the reigning FECOMBOX champion although ranked way below Viloria in the IBF rankings comes in with style that is perfect against a counter puncher like Viloria. Iribe, moves, bounces, and bobs. In his last fight on June 19, Iribe scored an 8th round TKO over Angel Rezago to retain his FECOMBOX title. Iribe last loss was a twelve round unanimous decision to tough Mexican WBC light flyweight champion Edgar Sosa who has beaten Filipinos Juanito Rubillar, Sonny Boy Jaro and Viloria himself.

The undercard will feature several Filipino boxers, including AJ "Bazooka" Banal. He will face Mexico's Victor "Pitufo" Proa in a matchup of top bantamweight contenders.
